About Korina
Korina Oswald is a glass artist based in Seattle, WA where she lives with her husband and children. The child of Irish immigrants, she is the first generation of her family to graduate from a 4 year institution with a BS in Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
Currently, her artistic practice is focused on community-based projects liker her glass quilt, that involve artists from around the world. She first conceived of this project in the aftermath of COVID’s isolation as a way to connect with glass artists who felt othered by the elitism of the fine art world. Much like quilt-making, glass has long been relegated to “craft” and its artistry has been almost completely absent from prestigious institutions. Oswald seeks to broaden the conversation of what constitutes fine art by creating a piece so large that it cannot be ignored.
Oswald’s personal work utilizes bright colors and child-like imagery with a dark twist to explore human emotions. Her pieces serve as an examination of her own feelings about being neurodivergent and help her better understand herself.
Oswald’s hope is to grow as an artist and be able to expand her practice to larger architectural pieces that push the boundaries between art and craft.
